Dydd Gwyl Dewi Hapus - Happy St David's Day

Don't worry - I shan't be blogging in Welsh - I couldn't if I wanted to, my Welsh is "O" level standard only I'm afraid!

It's St David's Day today! St David, or Dewi Sant as we Welsh like to call him, is the patron Saint of Wales, and I love March 1st! I always feel it's the first harbinger of Spring, and although the weather can be still unpredictable at this time of year, the spring flowers are blooming, and the days seem a little longer and brighter.

When I was a child we always held our school Eisteddfod on St David's Day and great fun it always was too - compeditive mind, but fun nevertheless. We had to wear red ties instead of our usual one, and we would also wear daffodils.

I still love to have daffodils in the house for St David's Day, and we usually eat lamb with mint sauce!

Love the look of your blog, Joy.:-)

The Tiger socks are lovely. I've just bought some to make socks for myself but having made 5 pairs in February, I think I'm all socked out for the time being. ;-)

Happy Dewi Sant Day. I never heard what Welsch sounded like. I tried pronouncing what you wrote, I'm sure I made a mess of it :) Daffodils in March! Lucky you, I won't see those for another two months still.
